Frequently Asked Questions

  • Unfortunately, no. While telehealth gives us more flexibility, due to state licensing laws I am legally bound to only provide therapy services to individuals who are in the states I am professionally licensed in, which are California and Maryland.

There is currently “compact counseling” legislation in the works in multiple states, which would allow counselors to expand their access into more states; however, this is not in place at the moment.

  • I work with adults (18+).

  • I do offer evening & night appointments, as well as daytime appointments to accommodate varying scheduling needs. However, I do not have weekend availability.

  • Therapy sessions are 100% virtual. I utilize a HIPAA-secure video platform for all therapy services. I will provide you a link to the platform when we schedule.

  • Telehealth therapy could be a great fit for you if:

-You have a busy schedule that makes meeting in-person difficult.

-It is difficult for you to find transportation to a therapy office.

-You prefer doing therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

-You do not want to be restricted to your specific location to find a therapist that is a good fit for you.

Telehealth therapy is NOT a good fit for you if:

-You have absolutely no way of having privacy; it would probably be best to see a provider in-person where they can see you in a private office.

-You have a diagnosis that requires a higher level of support and care than out-patient telehealth therapy can provide you.

-You are suffering from high distress where you struggle with current, active, and frequent suicidal ideations or gestures. In these cases it is best to see a provider in-person that has more direct contact with you.

-You feel challenged or uncomfortable with connecting and communicating via screens/ online platforms.

I would be happy to answer any questions for you about whether therapy services here would be a good fit for you or not.

  • Fill out the contact form, and I will reach out to you to schedule a 20-minute consultation.

We will meet over the phone and address any questions you have for me so that you can determine if this is a good fit for you. From there we will schedule your first therapy appointment.

  • I will send you a link to your personalized client portal, which will direct you to complete necessary documents .

  • Yes! Once you are set up in the client portal, I provide the option for you to receive 2 automated reminder text messages and/or emails before each session. One at 48 hours before, and the other 10 minutes before your session. Each message will have a direct link to the HIPAA-secure video platform we will meet on.

  • The client portal is a service that allows you to book appointments, sign documents, see billing information, and send/ receive secure messages with your therapist.

  • Your first session we will complete a mental health assessment. This will be a series of questions so I can get to know you and your needs and we can develop goals and plans for therapy.

  • When you utilize your insurance to pay for all or some of your therapy services it is required that you have a diagnosis. If you are not using insurance there is no requirement for me to give you a diagnosis. However, there may be times when a diagnosis could be helpful in understanding what you are experiencing or it may give you access to needed services.

I am qualified to provide a mental health diagnosis when needed. There could also be instances when some would prefer to not have a diagnosis. If you decide to schedule with me, I am happy to discuss any further questions about diagnoses.
